Promoting and enhancing active and healthy ageing

The Region of Apulia, through projects managed by AReSS, is at the forefront in promoting healthy and active ageing. The Social Policy Innovation Service has been supporting the Apulia Region since 2022 in defining its regional strategy for healthy, active and healthy ageing.

The aim of the project is the creation of computer literacy courses, enabling older people to learn how to deal with new technologies, reducing the IT gap with the younger generations and enabling them not to be left behind in a society that is becoming increasingly digital, so that they can access the main institutional websites of the Apulia Region and in particular the Apulia Health Portal (enabling them to book visits and diagnostic examinations, consult their Electronic Health Record, etc.).

The Agency approved a specific Public Notice (published in BURP no. 73 of 30/06/2022), aimed at identifying project proposals to be funded for a maximum amount of € 5,000.00 each, for the implementation of computer literacy courses. This activity is associated with a regional communication and awareness-raising campaign for the promotion of healthy ageing that is currently being launched.

The project is aimed at people aged 55 and over.

There are many organisations with which A.Re.S.S. cooperates to achieve the objectives of promoting active ageing. In addition to the close collaboration with the Wellfare Department and the special Institutional Communication structure of the Apulia Region, one can also mention the Department for Family Policies of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and the National Institute for Rest and Care for the Elderly - IRCCS INRCA. On the other hand, the public notice for the activation of computer literacy courses envisages cooperation with Third Sector organisations and the Universities of the Third Age.

Launched in December 2021, activities are expected to end in December 2023, unless extended and/or new resources are provided.

Funding

With DGR no. 2049 of 30 November 2021, the Regional Council initially allocated 100 thousand euros in favour of the Agency for the activation of computer literacy courses. Later, with DGR no. 1705 of 29 November 2022, it wanted to use the resources of the 2022 annuality to give continuity to the project by allocating a further 100 thousand euros.
